AXERT tablets are indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. For the patient who often delays taking her migraine medication due to concerns of side effects, especially during the day. The proven efficacy and tolerability profile of AXERT could help you offer her an effective option.
Minimal side effects may give AXERT patients the confidence to treat earlier, which
could result in improved outcomes.

In a randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, optimum-dose comparison of almotriptan 12.5 mg and sumatriptan 50 mg3 published in the Archives of Neurology, almotriptan demonstrated comparable relief with a lower incidence of side effects vs. sumatriptan 50 mg.

Back to the TopA multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, parallel-group trial of 317 migraine patients was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of AXERT in early migraine treatment. When patients took AXERT within one hour of headache onset, a greater number experienced pain relief (secondary endpoint) as early (primary endpoint) as 1 hour compared with placebo. More patients who took AXERT reported being pain free at 2 and 24 hours after 1 treatment. AXERT also demonstrated a side effect profile similar to placebo.

Back to the TopIn controlled clinical trials, single doses of 6.25 mg and 12.5 mg of AXERT tablets were effective for the acute treatment of migraines in adults, with the 12.5 mg dose tending to be a more effective dose. Individuals may vary in response to doses of AXERT. The choice of dose should therefore be made on an individual basis. If the headache returns, the dose may be repeated after 2 hours, but no more than two doses should be given within a 24-hour period.
